In 2016 I was Artist-in-Residence at ‘Submit to Love Studios’ located at the East London branch of the charity, Headway. Here I met brain injury survivors who have cultivated an art practise as part of their rehabilitation. ‘Like an Orange’ is a long-form graphic narrative that documents the conversations with the people I met there, weaving together their art work with my drawings, to share stories of brain injury with my own autobiographical reflections. Themes of memory, identity, creativity, and connection are explored through this uniquely collaborative process.
Like an Orange is due to be published with Cast Iron Books in 2022.
